D3 Services uses the hardware write blockers to protect data from accidental alteration data and to protect the integrity of any evidence discovered during forensic analysis.
D3 Services LLC uses a variety of tools for creating a digital image of media and for forensic analysis. An image file of digital medial represents and exact duplicate of digital media and can be compared to making a photo copy of a document. The copy is md5 hashed and then compared to the md5 hash of the original medial to insure that there was no alteration of data during the imaging process. During forensic examination, only the image file is used during the examination process. This maintains the integrity and prevents the alteration of the original media. For non-forensic data recovery, the use of write blockers and image files can prevent the launching of malware and viruses that may cause irreparable harm to a hard drive. What is important to remember is that data recovery is not the same thing as hard drive recovery. Hard drives are cheap to replace...data is not. Data recovery should always be performed before a hard drive recovery is attempted. If the hard drive recovery fails you may never get your data back. Don't take chances.
